Refractometer 0 – 30%. a hand held optical device for measuring the concentration of hydrophilic emulsifiers in water. In operation a small sample of the solution is applied to the prism face of the instrument. Readings are then directly read from the border live on the scale, by holding the instrument to the eye with it directed towards a suitable light source.
