Lumor J
Description
Product Information
Chemetall Lumor J (HF) Fluorescent Magnetic Ink
Lumor J (HF) Fluorescent Magnetic Ink consists of finely-divided fluorescent magnetic particles, dispersed in a hydrocarbon carrier fluid, which will fluoresce brilliant yellow/green under ultraviolet radiation with a predominant wavelength of 365nm.
Lumor J (HF) uses a hydrocarbon corresponding to ASM2641, type 1 magnetic particle inspection vehicle with a flash point exceeding 93°C (method ASTM D 93).
The particles have been selected for their high magnetic response, low coercivity (to avoid coagulation) and prolonged operational life.
Instructions for use
The surface of the components to be inspected should be cleaned prior to testing as any contamination on the component can mask any indications and contaminate the magnetic particle ink.
Components are magnetised using the appropriate technique and the Lumor J ink is applied during magnetisation. Application of the ink should cease before the magnetising source is switched off to the particles to migrate to the area of flux leakage.
The component surface should be inspected under UVA of minimum output of 1,000µwatts per sq. cm and peak wavelength of 365nm. The ambient light should also be less than 10 lux.
Application of the Lumor J ink may be spray, flow-on or immersion.
