Point blade inspection set for testing railway points for incipient cracks

The point blade connection is a flexible connection between the fixed rail and the movable blade. The rail foot in the point blade connection area is narrowed in order to facilitate bending. Under unfavourable conditions, due to continuous bending cycles, fatigue cracks can form in the foot in the point blade connection area, which can lead to the rail breaking.

Incipient cracks of this kind can be quickly and reliably detected using this point blade inspection set, consisting of two specially
adapted inspection probes, a guide, a calibration block as well as the necessary probe cables.

The point blade inspection set is best used with hand inspection equipment such as the ELOTEST M2 or ELOTEST M3.
