Reference Test Panel Type 2

SKU: F15.0582 Category:

Description

Product information

The Reference Test Panel Type 2 is used to test the performance of your fluorescent and colour-contrast penetrants in any environment where the penetrant could be susceptible to contamination and degradation, e.g. penetrant baths, open containers. As a rule, this testing must be carried out before the start of each work period.

The panel allows you to assess the relative sensitivity of a penetrant from one batch to another, and to assess the removability of excess penetrant during washing/cleaning.

Main features:

The Reference Test Panel Type 2 is rectangular in shape with dimensions of 155×50×2.5mm. The base material is stainless steel plated with a layer of nickel of 60μm thickness.

The nickel layer is plated with a thin layer of hard chromium of 0.5μm to 1.5μm thickness. This layer contains five artificially produced star-shaped defects of 3.0 to 5.5 mm diameter; which will indicate the actual sensitivity of your penetrant.

To check wash-ability, the test panel also has four adjacent areas of 25×35 mm dimension with a roughness of Ra = 2.5μm, Ra = 5μm, Ra = 10μm and Ra = 15μm. The largest defect is located next to the roughest area.

Instructions to use the Reference Test Panel Type 2:

When carrying out the test, the requirements of EN ISO 3452-1: 2014-09 must be observed. Conduct the test in the same environment and under the same conditions as you normally conduct your penetrant testing.

  • Apply penetrant over the surface of the test panel, covering all the star-shaped defects and rough areas.
  • Remove excess penetrant using the appropriate method for your type of penetrant.
  • Dry the surface of the test panel and apply a thin uniform film of developer.

Post-cleaning

  • Remove all penetrant residues.
  • Remove all traces of developer by rinsing with water.
  • Dry the reference test panel type 2.

Between tests, you can clean the panel with solvent or other remover provided it does not cause damage to, or alteration of, the artificial defects.

Store the test panel in the protective envelope provided to prevent scratching, twisting and other mechanical or thermal stresses.

Annual inspection
The indication ability of the test panel is subject to change, depending on how often it is used. Therefore, in accordance with EN ISO 3452-1: 2014-09, you must carry out an annual inspection of the panel.
