Supramor 4B
Description
Supramor 4B
Chemetall’s Supramor 4 Black is a ready to use colour contrast Magnetic Ink used in the Magnetic Particle Inspection process. It is available in both aerosols and bulk. The ink has a very fine particle size, mineral oil and suspending agent in a high flash. It is used in conjunction with suitable magnetising equipment to locate fine surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. Typical defects found include shrink cracks, welding defects, grinding cracks, quenching cracks and fatigue cracks. Supramor 4B gives clear black indications when viewed in daylight.
Supramor 4B is a highly sensitive oil-based product for non-fluorescent (visible) wet method magnetic particle testing to locate fine and medium discontinuities on finished parts. It has a high flash point with good particle mobility, it uses the highest grade of particles, selected for their response to very low magnetic field strengths and also low coercivity.
Maximise indication detection
- Heavy build-up of highly magnetic particles around all leakage fields make for heavy-contrast indications, especially when used with WCP712 or WCP722 (White Contrast Paints) and their remover S76
Convenient to use
- Inspect in all conditions without the need for darkness or UV lights
- The visible particles come in a convenient, aerosol format to be easily carried and used in the field
Wide application versatility
- Inspect a wide range of components without fear of corrosion or specification non-conformance
Features
- Clear indications under visible light
- Heavy particle build-up
- Great particle mobility
- Protects parts and equipment against any significant corrosion
- Broad spray pattern provides even surface coverage over large areas
- Very fine particle size

Instructions for use
Use Supramor 4B with appropriate magnetisation procedure and equipment. For best results, all components, parts, or areas to be tested should be clean and dry prior to testing to provide an optimal test surface and reduce particle suspension contamination.
- Use in a well ventilated area
- For best results, apply the white contrast paint (the manufacturer recommendation is either WCP712 or WCP722) before the Supramor 4B to improve contrast and inspection sensitivity
- Shake aerosol can well before use and occasionally during application to ensure suspension uniformity and concentration
- Hold the can 20 to 30cm from the area to be tested
- Using the continuous or residual application method, spray particle suspension over the test area until it is completely covered
- Inspect under visible light
To verify particle concentration, perform a sensitivity check using a known test standard prior to inspection.
