Pratt and Whitney IQI Product information
Pratt and Whitney IQI specifies the use of two classifications of Image Quality Indicators; TAM and ASTM E1742
TAM specifications are tool numbers assigned to IQI’s with a true 2% sensitivity, for use on material sections under 2 inches (5cm). TAM specifications contain detail numbers, each representing a specific IQI thickness. Additionally, TAM specifications contain an AMS number which specifies the material of the IQI.
ASTM E1742 is used for all materials, for use on sections from .05” and up, with a minimum IQI thickness of .005”. For materials not covered by a TAM number, ASTM E1742 can be made to a true 2% thickness.
